A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Laura, and I am autistic.

What else can I tell you?

I am married, and my husband and daughter are also neurodivergent. I am a Christian, and was brought up in the Roman Catholic church, which I left in my early twenties and returned to by a scenic route over twenty something years via various other denominations and churches including Methodist, Anglican, Baptist, and evangelical. I am now content to stay where God has put me, although I sometimes miss the music from other churches and seek to introduce it to our church on the Sundays when I lead the music.

In terms of hobbies, I enjoy many things including jigsaws, Doctor Who, many detective shows, growing plants on our balcony, painting, drawing and crochet, to name but a few. My brain is very good at some things, like remembering 80s and 90s song lyrics and trivia (which I somehow absorbed during my childhood), and very bad at others, like remembering why I walked into another room, or processing speech when there is background noise (thankyou, middle age and auditory processing disorder!).

I also love reading about all sorts of different things, and am especially interested in history, especially social history, which is why I ended up studying medieval history at university. I have forgotten much of it now, but every so often I end up digging back into my memories and interesting other people with the odd snippet of information!

I live in the South West of England. I am also usually very bad at selfies, so this is the best one I was able to find!

I hope you enjoy my ponderings!
